Program Overview:

The Pure Mathematics program is designed to prepare students wishing to pursue more advanced studies in mathematics at the Ph.D. level or to work in the public or private sector.

This major is available on the thesis and non-thesis options. A minimum of 36 hours is required for the thesis option; a minimum of 32-35 hours is required for the non-thesis option. A minimum of fifteen (15) hours of 6xxx-level course work is required on the thesis option. A minimum of twelve (12) hours of 6xxx-level course work is required on the non-thesis option.

Admission Requirements:

  • International Application for Admission
  • Official Transcripts sent directly from your current and/or all prior academic institutions that you have attended to the Office of Admissions
  • Minimum undergraduate grade point average of a 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale
  • Official TOEFL (79), IELTS (6.5), or Duolingo (105)
  • Applicant Statement addressing professional background, motivations for seeking degree and career goals
