Program Overview:

The mission of the University of Northern Iowa master's degree program in social work is to equip students with a trauma informed foundation that will prepare them for advanced practice and leadership. Students and faculty are committed to creating environments that enhance optimal human potential and growth. Our learning environment is based on systems and strength perspectives that advocate and promote culturally competent practice, human rights, and social and economic justice.

Areas of Concentration Currently Available:

  • Trauma Informed Practice Specialization (Temporarily online starting Fall 2022 - 2 year program)
  • Advanced Standing Trauma Informed Practice (In-Person for Summer 2022 - 1 year program; Must have a bachelor's degree in Social Work in order to apply.)

Admission Requirements:

  • International Application for Admission
  • Official Transcripts sent directly from your current and/or all prior academic institutions that you have attended to the Office of Admissions
  • Minimum undergraduate grade point average of a 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale
  • Official report of TOEFL score (79) or IELTS (6.5)
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation
  • Applicant Statement
  • Resume
