When you're in UNI, it won't be complete if you don't join the many organizations on campus! This semester, I applied and got accepted into CATS. CATS stands for Connecting Alumni to Students. We are a select group of students who are the Official student volunteers for the UNI Alumni Association. We have numerous events throughout the year to help out in Alumni events. I have met so many wonderful people in CATS and I consider it to be one of the best decisions I have made at UNI. STAT ( Students Today Alumni Tomorrow) is also a huge part of CATS. CATS are also known for the Panther Fridays program and the famous UNI Traditions Challenge race.
On February 24, 2016, I volunteered to help out at an Alumni event held in the Mcleod Center Alumni Suite. I helped set up the room and greeted people as they came in. They were alumni association members. This event was a pre game event after which the alumni members would eat and sit in the suite to watch the game at 7:00 pm. There were few other members of CATS and we all hung around and talked to our UNI alumni. I really enjoyed this particular kind of events because I got to know our alumni who had attended UNI in recent years to even those who had attended decades ago. I asked them what their majors were and also what was their favorite memory of UNI. It was a nice way to bond over UNI and how awesome it is. I had a nice chance to introduce my views and from where I was from. Everyone enjoyed these small reunions.
Overall, I was happy that I was able to give my time to help out for this event. I hope to sign up for such things in the near future as well!
