Why did you decide to attend college in the United States? And why did you choose UNI?

Coming to the United States has been my childhood dream. Many of my relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins) moved to the States. I have learned so much about the American culture through their stories of their new homeland. I have always felt that I will fit in with the lifestyle and cultures in the States. During my application process, I learned much more about the different types of institutions for higher education in America. I was looking for a big school with relatively low student to faculty ratio. UNI is the perfect size for me, with small classes and approachable faculty.

What do you like the most about UNI?

UNI is the perfect school because of the people. I have gotten to know all of my professors, who care about every student in class and even go out of their way to dedicate time outside of class to help me and my classmates succeed. The small class size is conducive to class discussions, which accelerates my learning process and helps me get to know my classmates better. UNI is not a place where you simply attend big lectures anonymously and get through 4 years of college unnoticed by anyone. UNI is where you belong!

Do you participate in any on-campus organizations or activities?

What makes my college experience memorable is participating in student organizations. I am the President of UNI Middle Eastern Dance Club, which I helped activate when I first came to UNI. I am also the current Vice President of the International Student Promoters, a group of highly motivated students committed to improving diversity on campus by recruiting students from all over the world to UNI. I am also involved in the Actuarial Science Club and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars - UNI Chapter. In addition, I am applying to be a member of the Student Admissions Ambassadors, where I can help promote UNI to domestic students as well.
